| Napping | A finishing product for fabric that involves raising a nap, or fuzzy layer, on the fabric surface. The fabric passes over a revolving cylinder that's covered with short, fine wires that stick out. These wires lift up fibers from the surface of the fabric creating a fuzzy appearance.

It is used in women’s hosiery, knitted or woven lingerie, socks and sweaters, rugs and carpets, tents, sleeping bags, duffle bags, racquet strings, fishing lines, sails, tire cord, machine belting, filter netting, fish nets, laminates, and ropes.
