A Hallak wedding gown preservation is broken down into the following steps:

  • Pre-inspection and photos
  • Spot-cleaning (e.g. hem soil)
  • Full, professional cleaning
  • Expertly hand-pressing
  • Post inspection and photos
  • Customer viewing and wedding gown report receipt
  • Placement in museum-quality archival preservation box
For a full detailed explanation, please see our preservation process page. All of Hallak’s preservations come with a lifetime guarantee backed both by Hallak and the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists.  For clients in our delivery area, there is complimentary delivery. For out-of-the-area customers, there is free nationwide shipping.

Most brides typically commission their wedding gowns, veils, and headpieces to us. You may also wish to include such keepsakes as  your garter, gloves, handkerchief, slip, and  other accessories.  Please keep in mind items such as jewelry that may contain plastic or metals will not boxed with gown.

Yes, Hallak’s expertly trained cleaning department understands the nature of fabric and ornamentation.  Each wedding gown is as unique as the bride.  Therefore, each dress is evaluated thoroughly prior to any care.  After the initial inspection, our cleaning department tests any beads, sequins and/or trimmings. In addition, the team knows to look for any loose items or other areas in need of repair.

Unique and distinctive fabrics, laces, embroideries, and appliques require special care, as do pearls, beads, sequins, and droplets. Our seamstresses and tailors are trained to handle a wide assortment of repairs. Before making any repairs, a Hallak representative will reach out ahead of time for approval.

With years of experience, Hallak’s knowledgeable cleaning department will expertly pre-treat spots and stains prior a gown’s full cleaning. Once cleaned, your item will then be treated with an anti-sugar process. Different types of stains require different kinds of removal.  Trust the experts at Hallak Cleaners.

Wedding gowns that have been tried on or worn may require minor (and sometimes, major) repairs.  During the inspection, your Hallak representative will also be looking for loose buttons, broken bustle ties, torn lace and more. Our seamstresses and tailors are trained to handle a wide assortment of repairs. From torn seams to loose beading, we will review with you any repairs needed.

When a wedding gown (or any item at Hallak) arrives at Hallak, it will be inspected. From there, a team member then itemizes it. It is at this point that your dress is assigned its own significant number. This number (invoice) works with our innovative tracking system.  We are proud to say that we can locate your fashion at any point in its journey here.  At any time, you may feel free to call for your gown’s status.

When it comes to post wedding gown care, we ask for about eight weeks. However, we can certainly do our best to accommodate  a shorter return date.

Planning on selling your gown? Or plan on wearing again shortly? Please let us know in advance so we can work with your timeline.

For vintage restorations or heavily soiled dresses, please contact us directly at (212) 832-0750 or email bridal@hallak.com.

If you choose to preserve your gown, a  Hallak team member will carefully fold and wrap it in acid-free tissue paper. Your dress will then be positioned in the finest, museum-quality preservation box.  (Please note only wedding dresses cleaned by Hallak will be available for preservation.)  All of Hallak’s preservations come with a lifetime guarantee backed by both Hallak Cleaners and the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists.

If you do not wish to have your gown ‘preserved’, we would encourage you to store it in a breathable garment bag. When storing, please make sure it is stored in a climate-controlled space-  away from direct sunlight.

Whether you are planning your wedding or have already celebrated, it is great that you are thinking about your gown’s  post-care.

If you wish, you can use our wedding gown cleaning cost estimator.   From the information and images requested, we would be able to provide you with an estimate.

You are also welcome to stop  by either of our locations (Hackensack, NJ and Manhattan).  A team member would be able to evaluate and provide you with an actual care cost.

Hallak offers complimentary pick-up and delivery in Manhattan, Westchester, Hamptons, Bergen County, Greenwich and the Short Hills neighborhood.  We would be happy to schedule a pick-up for an in-person evaluation. There is no commitment. Your gown would be picked up and inspected. Then, a team member would call you with your gown’s cleaning cost. At that time, you may decide to proceed with the care or request to have your item returned (no charge).

And lastly, out-of-the-area potential clients can ship their gown by FedEx or UPS to our New Jersey facility. Prior to shipping, we kindly request that you email bridal@hallak.com. This way, we may answer any questions you might have.  Return shipping of your gown is free.
