Thanksgiving Day Preparation starts now…if you didn’t start already. Even if your holiday looks a little different this year, there are still plenty of reasons to celebrate so let’s make it special!

While turkey day will soon be here, there is still time to inspect those holiday table linens. When storing linens, some ‘invisible stains’ may start to discolor and show. And that is not a happy surprise with all your guests arriving shortly. This is why we encourage our clients to take a peek at their tablecloths, napkins and runners.  See a spot? Need a fresh press? Post Labor Day 2020 Check-In

Consider this your post Labor Day 2020 check-in.  The Hallak family hopes you had a happy and healthy holiday weekend.

Typically, Labor Day Weekend means the beginning of a new school year, the end of summer, etc. This year, things may be a little different. For some, their stay at the summer house may end up a little longer. If so, please know that we are continuing our Hampton route.

Others may continue family remote learning and working from home.  With that in mind, your day-to-day fashion may be a little more on the casual side.  In addition to our couture dry cleaning, our wash and fold service is still available. All of our laundry services come with a Hallak touch!

Allow us to lighten up your daily routine by caring for your bed linens. One less thing to-do means more time for the important things.  Regular laundry cleans and sanitizes keeping your family safe.  In addition to linens, Hallak also offers pillow and home sanitizing. Over the next few weeks, the weather is going to start to change. While we can’t help with that, we can help with your seasonal storage switch!  Our cold storage is available for your outerwear. (There are three different levels. Choose which option is best for you.)  Box storage is ideal for your wardrobe. (All items must be cleaned prior to storage. Once you have created an account, you can add here and there.)

The Great Denim Debate

Have you ever been involved in the Great Denim Debate?  You know the one where you discuss how often you should clean your denim.  The discussion where everyone has a different answer – even the ‘experts’!

Hallak’s team is often asked about the proper care for items.  One of the top questions received is regarding denim’s care.  And our clientele aren’t the only ones asking! There have been numerous studies such as:

• Should you wash your jeans less to reduce your carbon footprint?
• Is not washing your jeans bad for your health?

Along with how often, people also wonder cold versus a normal wash? Washing inside-out or not?  Depending on the denim, it is hard to provide a definitive solution – and one the that everyone would agree to.  Less expensive denim dyed poorly may not hold up in more frequent washings; they could lose dye quicker, lose their structure, etc.  (Even more expensive denim has been known to cause dye transfer.)

Most people have their own thoughts on how to handle their denim care.  It’s a personal choice.  Depending on your actual ‘schedule’, you may wish to keep it personal too.  Several years ago, Levi’s CEO explained that he never washed his jeans.  As you may have guessed, he received some backlash for it.  Although, we are pretty sure that some people may have already been following suit.

Hallak’s Take on the Great Denim Debate

Consider caring for your denim every two to three wears.  If you do not plan on washing your denim after each wear, please inspect them before putting them away.  You may wish to spot-clean certain areas, etc.

Remember, this is merely a suggestion.  We have a strong feeling denim’s care will continue to be a personal choice.

With Hallak on your side, your wardrobe is always ready for a step.  Complimentary pick-up and delivery is available in your area – Manhattan, Greenwich, Westchester, Bergen County, Hamptons and the Short Hills area.

Please note that will both locations will be closed only on Monday, September 7th, in observance of Labor Day.  Both stores will be open on Saturday with our regular business hours.  If you wish to schedule your pick-up, you may do so by using the Hallak app, emailing info@hallak.com or our pick-up form.
